 Thanksgiving family gathering

感恩節家宴

Written on 11/25/2022

This is My daughter’s house.  We haven’t seen the family for a while due to the pandemic.  In the backyard a picnic table was set with a fall harvest display along one side. At the farthest end sits a flower pot filled with my garden trimmings w/birds of paradise, the only thing in my yard I could find with color of autumn

In the dinning room, table setting was arranged ahead of time while people and pet, a white retriever, were busy going about to get things done………

On a side table dishes were laid out on tablecloth for diners to help themselves in buffet style.  You have just missed a fine roast turkey, it has since been cut up for easy self-serving by guests.  Among them from right to left are: stuffing, cranberry sauce, 1/2 of a loaf of bread and a square piece of cornbread. Next, you see cut up turkey meat, and in a round shape white bowl, Mac and cheese……..the usual suspects

On upper left corner of turkey meat, a veggie dish including cubed beets w/heavy cream dotted on them.  Next in line is mashed potato in a white bowl and gravy being nudged between beets and Mac and cheese.  The last one near the end of table is string beans.

On dinner table you can always see this item so the kids can have some  green color vegetable.  I couldn’t name the last one in a white round bowl next to the drinking water decanter.  Sorry I failed to take better photos of the food on table as I couldn’t spend too much time shooting pictures while stand in waiting line.

Other than my beloved grandchildren, Lucy, a white retriever, 1 1/2 years old and already weighs 75 lb., drew a lot of attention from the  guests.  This was partially due to her size and tenacious tendency to attach itself to people.

My granddaughter, a budding artist who loves to draw from a very early age.  This recent piece of artwork is in oil depicting a goldfish in bowl.

感恩節餐桌上,吃過火鷄餐甜點上來後,女婿例行問每位在坐親朋包括自己兒女

After dinner while everyone was still at the table, our host asked each person in turns:  ”what are you thanking for ?”

這是三年前小孫子之回應

The response coming from the youngest one:“I’m thanking for…uhm…chocolate!”
That’s when the quick color sketch was done:
