Spring is here, flowers sprung from everywhere I turned.  I took an inventory of the front and back yards this morning to catch the sight and smell of spring.  The following is just a few samples caught with my iPhone lens.

I have two pots of cymbidium orchids 蕙蘭 ，given to me by a friend around the millennium.  They are extremely hardy and continue to produce plenty of blooms each year.

Among the spring flowers on the stand next to my garage door are several types of geraniums 天竺葵 and ranunculus 花毛茛或洋牡丹 in red and also in bright yellow. Behind the stand are two hydrangea which were only starting to bud after the bitter cold winter.  Hydrangea 繡球花 are hardy and reliable flowering plant, sometimes I cut the fresh blooms and place then in vases for indoor.  The flowering season continues on through summer here in N. California 

Pansies 三色堇 are easy bedding plants with a range of colors available

* It can grow as an annual or a perennial groundcover depending upon the setting, even an evergreen in very temperate climates. In USDA hardiness zones 6-8, it grows as a perennial garden plant. In very cold, wet climates ( zones 4 and 5) it grows as an annual.

* 冰叶松叶菊是新西兰的常见植物，它也被叫做“冰叶日中花”，新西兰人叫它 Ice Plant，倒是朗朗上口非常容易记忆的名字。冰叶松叶菊的学名是 Disphyma，但是通常人们叫它 Round leaved pigface 或者是 Purple dewplant，New Zealand Iceplant 也行。这是一种原产自新西兰、澳大利亚和南非的草本植物，是很好的观赏植物，近些年也已经传入中国大陆的观赏植物市场。

They are enclosed in by some rosemary bushes. When clipping the flowers I need to compete with honeybees who love the lavenders and collect the nectar for making honey
