讓人驚艶的餐點 (增添版）

No list of the food selections will satisfy everybody.  No list can be acceptable to all without some serious arguments. I’m not pretending it’s the list, just one came out from my photo albums and memory lane.  I am certain that it is somewhat partial

The first one I should pick inevitably would be one from the deep corner of my memory 
It’s a simple rice bowl w/ colorful relishes 
spread over cooked white rice 
What we called 茶泡飯
An ordinary staple food in old time Taiwan 
One that was likely influenced by Japanese food

A Soup Bowl from
a Kaiseki Cuisine 懷石料理 Restaurant in Taipei 
slightly modified for Chinese customers 

Upon arrival of the bowl 
A lotus flower placed on top of the soup
Guests sitting around the table watched in quiet amazement 
Slowly expand and open right in front of all eyes

The dish served in a 

Michelin starred restaurant in Taipei 

is called 

木瓜焗海鮮

“櫻吹雪”

We went to Japan town the other day 

stopped by the same grocery store we frequented regularly.  

Guess what we found 

兩粒精巧手工握出的的 manju : “吹雪”!  

整粒名果內餡全是厚實夾著豆粒的紅豆沙，頗值得細嚼緩嚥體驗它的風味。外層裹著一層薄薄白皮，也不知什麼做的，一些兒也不膩口。

餅面一朵櫻花，中央花心部分軽點一抹胭脂

還真捨不得吃它！

Thai Food is an all around favorite cuisine of my family

One dessert item stands out from all menus :

mango and sticky rice w/coconut syrup 

                                      

A cheesecake made from scratch by son in law, an aspiring young amateur cook

A roasted tomato dish with cheese made by second son in law

Tomatoes straight from their vegetable garden with various sizes and color varieties

The following is a local favorite “little eat” 

台灣小吃 ：台南擔仔麵

號稱有人一口就能吃光，這當然是誇張之詞

這麼美味的食點，怎捨得一口就吃掉！

這是在家隨手拼湊出的一小盤蔬果沙拉
