鹿的故事之二

「雙鹿逃生記」
“The Great Escape of Two Deer”
A pair of baby fawns playing in my backyard
all by themselves
這對雙胞胎小鹿為「後花園托兒中心」學員
白天不見媽媽 自己玩得開心
Just as I open the window shades taking a snapshot
of the two cute baby deer
清晨拉開𥦬簾 拍了張雙小並列小照
晨起慣例 正泡了杯巖茶 尚未坐定
只見𥦬外兩隻小鹿繞圈子狂奔
Something happened right then
走近𥦬門一瞧，不得了！
Two light brown color coyotes chasing the fawns in circles
兩頭比狼犬略小淺棕色皮毛之物緊追於後
情況急迫 打開𥦬門提起堵門粗棒
救星來也！棒打郊狼 沒那本事
落了個不好自己反成受害人
At the brink of a moment, I hit upon an idea
靈機一動 在那緊急的一刻
Picking up the heavy wooden stick used for door stopper,
hitting the concrete deck right outside the door,
Bang Bang Bang ! The
crackling noises spread in waves
reverberating in clear morning air.
The coyotes turned around and fled instantly
toward the mountain where they came from
舉起木棒 重擊水泥地面
三兩聲巨響 二狼嚇得落荒而逃
………………………………………………………………………….
Several weeks later, this is the scene I saw : the family of three
passing by outside my backyard safe and sound
數周後巧逢鹿家三口穿行籬外
二小無恙，一家大小團圓平安
...........................
The fate of an unfortunate fawn
lasted less than three days in its short life
草塗此像時約摸兩日大的小鹿
躲在草叢旁一動不動
兩眼烏溜明亮
牠沒這麼幸運，沒活過第三天
鹿媽媽院中逡巡一連數日
來來回回尋找牠的寶寶
【註】🦌 初生小鹿的行為與生理特徵
- 極佳的偽裝：兩天大的小鹿會透過降低心率來避免被掠食者發現，這是一種與生俱來的生存本能。
- 靜止不動：為了不吸引掠食者，牠們會長時間蜷縮在樹叢或高草叢中一動也不動。
- 母鹿會單獨留下牠：母鹿通常會外出覓食，只在清晨和傍晚返回餵奶，這是非常正常的自然現象 - online information
Now we go back to my story in the last blog to
the first baby deer born in the backyard 「後花園托兒中心」第一位學員出生方一日，我們發現牠時一動也不動，顯然牠懂得裝死！ ⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯⋯
Now, about two months old, the fawn came back alone to pay a visit to its birthplace
約摸兩個月大小鹿重返出生地點

Why in most Christmas card all deer pictures were male
with nice beautiful antlers ?

其中鹿隻皆為公鹿
這又是什麼原因呢？
