鬧市街頭車如流水
At the thoroughfare in a business district
Buses and cars flow like boats in water

Another major road where camphor trees line the thoroughfare
dancing to the beat of the city’s pulses
麻雀們在狭巷中的老黑瓦屋頂上開派對嬉耍
舞台的背景都已完備就緒
Birds’ haven in the hustle and bustle of the city
The environ I grew up remains unchanged
The house I lived in as a youngster no longer there, has since been rebuilt
With no trace of the old days
狹巷內還能見到舊日的一間日式庭院，後庭樹木扶疏
半世紀之前 是我記憶中無邪年代的表徵
右手邊大樹掩映中的樓房
是我成長年代的住家
重建多年後再找不出舊日的軌迹

*市定古蹟戴炎輝寓所位於南昌街二段小巷中，兒童年代隣居，當時弟兄姐妹淘經常在後窗眺望其日式宅院中情景
猶記得庭院中林蔭茂密鷄鴨成群
還見過一隻母鷄領著近十隻小鴨遊走園中覓食
鷄鴨禽類似乎很早就開始代養異類子女
況且不計酬勞
今古建築比肩並列
Structures built in olden days stand right next to
new high rise buildings
老樓房的新天地
Tucked inside the compound
a trendy café found its cozy corner
通過窗台外邊
世界依舊青綠如昨
Looking out of the café window panes you can see
Stretch of green grass with shady tall trees
Just like the old days
老房子的梯台上映照著舊日餘輝
A staircase outside an antique wooden window panes
reflects flashes of image
from the past glories
